Unlocking underutilised wood: promising new concepts made from poplar, pallets and more
Living Lab ‘The Green Village’, at the Delft University of Technology, organised an inspiring co-design session on 12 March 2026. It invited timber architects, engineers, carpenters, researchers, students and others working in the field to develop novel concepts that make use of underutilised wood sources. The session focused on post-consumer and urban wood, and sparked plenty of exciting ideas for the use of poplar, tree branches, pallet wood, or demolition wood in load-bearing structures and façades. These ideas feed into the 100+ systemic zero-waste solutions that WoodStock will be developing.
